March 6th

On March 6th in true crime, porn king shooting, brutal murder, death sentence, vanished without a trace, triple murder in Ohio.

1978

American porn king Larry Flynt was shot and paralysed in Lawrenceville, Georgia. He was shot by serial killer; Joseph Paul Franklin.

Franklin would go on to say that he ambushed Larry Flynt and his lawyer, in retaliation for an edition of Hustler displaying interracial sex. Franklin would become known as The Racist Killer.

1979

American criminal Robert Alton Harris was sentenced to death for the 1978 murders of two teenage boys in San Diego.

In 1992 he was executed in the gas chamber at San Quentin State Prison. It was the first execution in the state of California since 1967.

Harris was arrested shortly after a robbery which left the two boys dead.

One of the arresting officers was one of the boy’s father but he did not know that his son was a victim until after the arrest.

1980

In Pinal County, Arizona, 36-year-old Linda Louise Leslie was beaten to death with a hammer, stabbed with a steak knife and strangled.

Leslie was suffering from Huntington’s chorea which meant that she had the mental reasoning of young teenager. The room she was killed in was being rented from William Lyle Woratzeck, who was the only suspect. Woratzeck had beaten her so badly that he broke some of her bones.

He then robbed her and set the room on fire. Despite maintaining his innocence, Woratzeck was sentenced to death and executed by lethal injection on June 25th 1997.

1981

In Warrington, Pennsylvania, 37-year-old Gloria Suzanne Korzon vanished without a trace. She was last seen leaving her job in Horsham at the Pennsylvania electronics plant.

She lived with her husband William Walter Korzon at the time of her disappearance. In May of 1981, Gloria’s mother received a Mother’s Day card but the signature was not in Gloria’s handwriting and was written as her full name, which was something Gloria never did.

She was reported missing in July 1981 by her brother. When investigators spoke to William Korzon, he claimed that his wife had gone to visit an aunt in Florida but she had never returned.

All of Gloria’s personal belongings were left behind including a substantial amount of money in her savings account.

Between 1976 and 1980, Warrington police had been called to the Korzon residence eight times for domestic violence incidents. However, Gloria always withdrew her complaints before they reached court.

In 1987, William managed to finalise a divorce on grounds of desertion. He went on to give conflicting reports of when he had last seen his wife and claimed to have had contact with her many times after she was reported missing.

However, in 2019 when police questioned him again, he responded with; “did you find the body?” He was arrested in April 2019 and charged with homicide.

In December 2019, he pleaded guilty to Gloria’s murder, claiming he had shot her in the head by accident. Her remains have never been recovered.

1982

In Cuyahoga County, Ohio, Reginald Brooks killed his three sons, 17-year-old Reginald Jr., 15-year-old Vaughn, and 11-year-old Niarchos.

He killed them out of revenge for his wife, Beverly, having filed for divorce. Brooks planned the crime 10 days earlier by purchasing the murder weapon in advance.

When Beverly left for work, he shot his sons at point blank range while they slept in their beds. He eloped to Utah and was arrested the same day.

He was subsequently sentenced to death and executed by lethal injection in Ohio on November 15th 2011.

1983

In Martin County, North Carolina, police received a call that the Zip Mart on Main Street was open for business but there were no workers inside.

Police arrived to find the store clerk Vallerie Ann Roberson Dixon missing, and the cash register broken into. Police tracked her vehicle to Highway 64 and arrested the driver, Willie Brown, just a few hours later. Inside the vehicle was a revolver, cash from the register, and Dixon’s purse.

He claimed to have no knowledge of Dixon’s whereabouts. The following morning, her body was discovered in a nearby rural area, just five miles from the store.

She had been shot six times, and Brown’s weapon matched the bullets. Brown was later found guilty of her murder and sentenced to death. He was executed by lethal injection in North Carolina on April 26th 2006.
