Five New True Crime Book Releases for 2023

True Crime Lists T

Yes, this is a self-promotional post, but I thought I’d blow my own trumpet on this occasion. Such an unusual phrase, to blow one’s own trumpet.

Anyway, the start of 2023 has been a busy one. We have a new book publishing company, a marketing plan for this true crime website, and a whole raft of new features landing.

Since January, there have been FIVE new true crime book releases I’ve put out with help from my hard-working but busy team at Twelvetrees.

My fingers have been tapping the keyboard so fast and hard my knuckles look like Stallone’s biceps. Here are the five new true crime books released already in 2023.

It probably helps that Bizarre True Crime is now a monthly release! Speaking of which…

Bizarre True Crime Volume 11

Bizarre True Crime Volume 11

The first Bizarre True Crime Book of 2023 landed in January with a mega collection of odd stories from the world of true crime.

A look inside:

The Lost Boys of Hannibal: Three boys entered a cave in Missouri and disappeared forever, in a tale involving a mad doctor, a ghost, and a labyrinthine cave system.

Tattoo Solves Crime: A hawk-eyed detective looking at gang tattoos noticed a tattoo depicting a murder from years earlier, with details only the killer would have known, leading to a gang member who thought he had got away with it.

Murder Solved by Ghost: In a supernatural true crime story, the murder of a young woman was solved from beyond the grave – by the victim herself!

Schoolboy Who Hacked NASA: A teenage hacker went from high school student to the most wanted hacker in the world when he hacked into the Department of Defense and NASA and obtained a source code for controlling the International Space Station.

The Psychedelic Witch Killers: In the early 1980s, a deranged Californian couple took a load of psychedelic drugs, hitch-hiked around Europe, got married at Stonehenge, killed a load of people, and blamed it on a holy war against witches.

The Barefoot Bandit: He ran away at the age of seven to live in the wild and by the time he was nineteen, had committed hundreds of burglaries and crashed five planes while on the run.

Too Fat to Kill: When a 300-pound man was put on trial for killing his former son-in-law, his lawyers put forward a bizarre defence claiming he was simply too fat to kill – but did it work?

The Abduction of Serge the Llama: When Serge the llama took a nap in his cage at the Bordeaux Circus, he didn’t expect to be abducted by five drunk French teenagers and taken on a tour of the city – selfies included.

+ another 12 stories and loads of extras as always!

Vampires: Monsters of True Crime

Another awesome new series for 2023, the year of horror!

Vampires exist! Real-life vampire stories from the world of true crime.

They walk among us and look just like you and me. They are our neighbours, friends, colleagues, that figure sitting opposite you on the train, or a family member from yesteryear. They are here and they are as real as the person you see looking back in the mirror.

Contained within these blackened pages are real-life tales of vampire killers, blood drinkers, criminals with a taste for blood, and those who wander the shadows of our world. This book isn’t concerned with myth or vampire lore, instead focusing on real people with vampiric tendencies.

Real killers who drank the blood of their victims. Real people. Real lives.

We traverse the annals of vampiric history from the 16th Century to the 21st to learn that vampires do indeed walk the earth. They are human creations, besotted with violence, murder, and the drinking of human blood.

Cannibals: Monsters of True Crime

The second Monsters of True Crime book release takes us into the minds of the people-eaters!

Real-life cannibal stories from the world of true crime.

Contained within these bloodstained pages are real-life tales of cannibal killers, flesh eaters, criminals with a taste for human meat, and those who wander the abattoirs of our world.

Cannibals do indeed walk the Earth. They don’t all live in the jungle and chant unintelligible words. People eaters walk among us and look just like you and me. They are human creations, besotted with violence, murder, and the eating of human flesh.

In Cannibals: Monsters of True Crime, we look at 15 real-life cannibal killers. In an attempt to not only understand why they committed the acts they did, but to witness the horrors of their deeds.
